Réal Chabot

Producer Réal Chabot has been collaborating with members of the Coop Vidéo since 1999. In 2006, he produced the Coop features, dans les villes (in the cities) by Catherine Martin, and Délivrez-moi (Forgive Me) by Denis Chouinard. Réal is also in development at the Coop with The Timekeeper, adapted from the novel by Trevor Ferguson, to be directed by Louis Bélanger (dir., Post Mortem, Gaz Bar Blues).

In 2004, Chabot produced for the Coop Vidéo Que Dieu bénisse l'Amérique (May God Bless America) by Robert Morin, the opening film of the 2006 Rendez-Vous du Cinéma Québécois. Réal also produced it's making-of entitled La méthode Morin, directed by Philippe Falardeau, which was also presented at the Rendez-Vous.

In 2002, Chabot was line producer for Bernard Émond's second feature, 20 h 17 rue Darling (ACPAV), as well as for that of Louis Bélanger, Gaz Bar Blues, which received excellent reviews when it was released. The latter also won two Jutra, best original music and best actor (Serge Thériault), and four other awards at the 2003 Festival des Films du Monde de Montréal, including the Grand Prix du Jury and the Prix Spécial du Public.

As well, Chabot worked for the Coop Vidéo as line producer with Robert Morin on the controversial film, Le Nèg, as well as with Catherine Martin on her stunning film, Mariages (Marriages), which won awards at several festivals in Québec and elsewhere.

Chabot has worked steadily in the film industry for 25 years, participating in a number of feature films: The Ultimate Weapon, L'île de sable, Le siège de l'âme, Matusalem, Highlander III. He has also been involved in television series: Big Bear, Les orphelins de Duplessis, Innocence, The Boys of St-Vincent, Scoop IV, as well as made-for-TV movies: Dernier cri, La beauté des femmes, Blanche, Le jardin d'Anna, Shadows of the Past, L'homme de rêve, and in infomercials (publicity films).

In the spring of 2005, Réal Chabot founded Les Films du Boulevard, a production company with which he is developing a number of feature-film projects.
